Breeding history

The variety of Galben know was obtained in the Russian Scientific Research Institute of Grapes in the process of crossing the early white grape variety Frumoas Albe with the very early Russian Cornfield. Later he was named Zolotinka.

This variety is used for cultivation in central Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. Thanks to its winter hardiness, it feels good even in the northern regions.

Winter-resistant varieties are also Tukay, Arched and Pink Flamingo.

This variety has been obtained relatively recently, but it has already become widespread, due to its resistance to major grape diseases and unpretentiousness in care.

Specifications

Zolotinka - a very early variety, full ripening of clusters occurs in 104-115 days after the swelling of the kidneys. Among the early varieties can be distinguished Kishmish 342, Julian and Gordey.

The variety does not have a record yield and is not quite suitable for market cultivation, but with proper care, it may well bring a decent crop for personal use.

The variety of Galben know is prone to overloading the shoots with clusters, which is bad for both the quantity of the crop and its quality. Therefore, it is very important to carry out the regulation of the vine in time.

Zolotinka differs in high frost resistance and can, without shelter, withstand a drop in t to -24-26ะก. Because of its early maturity, it matures perfectly in a temperate and cold climate, but needs to be wrapped for the winter.

Variety practically does not have mildew and gray mold. Sometimes it can be affected by oidium and is often attacked by wasps and birds.

Diseases and pests

To protect the grapes from oidium, preventive treatments of the bush are necessarily carried out. Gray rot and mildew are not dangerous for Zolotka.

Oidium occurs in Zolotinka infrequently. The disease is rather unpleasant and is not easy to treat. The first signs can be found on young leaves. They become curly and covered with ugly moldy bloom.

Later, this raid goes to the inflorescences and shoots, then to the berries. Inflorescences affected by oidium dry up and die, and the berries begin to crack and dry out in dry weather, and rot in high humidity.

To combat oidium you can use the pollination of the vineyard with sulfur powder. But it should be carried out only in dry and warm, but not very hot, weather. Well helps spraying the bush systemic fungicidal preparations.

For the prevention of this disease, it is enough to ensure good airing of the vine, proper pruning and shaping, careful weeding and loosening of the soil, and competent feeding and watering.

Due to the high sugar content in the berries, zolotinka often affected by wasps, as well as Zagrava and Pereyaslavskaya Rada. To resort to chemicals in this case is impossible. But there are many ways to protect against these ubiquitous insects.

The first is, of course, the destruction of the wasp nests in the immediate vicinity of the vineyard.

You can also use various traps, for example, pour sugar syrup mixed with an odorless insecticide into an open tray.

It is important to locate such trays as high as possible off the ground. Well help in the fight against wasps and traps from plastic bottles, with beer poured inside or beer or jam.

You can try to put each bunch in a special bag of gauze or polymer mesh. To protect against wasps and birds, they also use the complete shelter of a bush with a fine-meshed net, which allows air and moisture to pass through well.

The variety of Galben know has a lot of undeniable advantages. It is disease resistant, frost-resistant and rarely attacked by pests. Absolutely not whimsical in care, and does not require special professional knowledge.

Perfect for beginners in viticulture, like Muscat Dievsky, and thanks to its amazing nutmeg taste and aroma, it will become the most beloved and sought-after variety at the dacha plot.
