Rabbits, like other animals, also get sick. Bacterial damage can cause death of the entire rabbit herd, which for the owners is fraught with significant moral damage. To combat these diseases you need an antibacterial agent with a wide range of effects. Well in this case, the drug Brovaseptol recommended itself, the use of which will be discussed later in the article.
Drug description
The drug is available in powder form, as well as in tablet form:
- Pills 10 or 30 pieces are placed in jars (glass or plastic) or 100 pieces in bags (polyethylene).
- Powder it is packaged in containers (from 12 to 240 g), but large portions (from 500 g to 1 kg) are sold in bags. And those and other packaging made of polymeric material.
- Injection powder sold in glass (bottles with a capacity of 3.5 and 6.5 g), a set of them are 8- and 16-milligram containers with 0.9 percent sodium chloride.
Since this drug is complex, its pharmacological action has several directions related to its constituent parts (see below for its composition). Common to all components except one (sulgin) is excellent absorption in the digestive system.
It will probably be useful for you to learn how to apply: "Penicillin", "Lactic acid", "Chiktonik", "Yod", "Gamavit", "Baytril" and "Dithrim" for rabbits.
Specific pharmacological effects are as follows:
- The intestine ceases to be saturated with nicotinic acid, thiamine and riboflavin, and E. coli no longer grows or develops.
- There is a reliable brake for germs (gram-negative and gram-positive).
- There are significant violations in bacterial metabolism, so the harmful bacteria simply die.
- The cytoplasmic membrane substantially loses permeability properties, at the same time the process of protein formation is disturbed. Mycoplasmas, rickettsia and chlamydia lose their ability to grow and develop.
- The number of destroyed (oppressed) microbes, in which the formation of a protein stops (slows down), spirochetes also enter, and pathogenic bacteria cease to multiply.
Composition
The composition of Brovaseptol (calculated per 100 g of medicine) is as follows:
- 8 g of norsulfazol;
- 7 g of sulgin;
- 4.5 g of oxytetracycline hydrochloride;
- 3 g of trimethoprim;
- 2.5 g of tylosin tartrate.
Did you know? The wild rabbit is far from home in terms of longevity: it lives only a year, while the home can reach even 12 years old, although there is a record that is 19 years old.
Instruction
From the description of the pharmacological action can be seen that "Brovaseptol" is applicable in a variety of diseases affecting various systems of the body:
- respiratory;
- urinary;
- digestive.
Rabbit breeders should learn how to treat: cysticercosis, psoroptosis, flatulence, viral hemorrhagic disease, conjunctivitis, pasteurellosis and scabies in rabbits, as well as get acquainted with infectious diseases of rabbits that are transmitted to humans.
The total list of diseases in which veterinarians prescribe this particular drug, has more than two dozen.
The appointment takes into account the age of the rabbits, their weight and the method of drug delivery into the body. At the same time, the general principle is the increased (by 1.5-2 times) initial dosage, which is determined on the basis of specific symptoms characterizing the severity of the disease.
The duration of the course of treatment is also the same; it covers a five-day week and is extended for another couple of days, if there are medical indications. Between taking the medication (injections) the interval is maintained from a day to one and a half.
When taken orally
If several rabbits get sick at the same time, then the internal use of the medicine is easier to apply to all at once. It is either added to dry food or mixed with water. In the first case, 100 g of the treatment powder is mixed with 400 g of feed, in the second case, 1 ml of the preparation is added to 1 liter of water. The daily rate is not more than 1.2 g per 10 kg of body weight.
For intramuscular injection
Regardless of the age of the animal, intramuscular injections are made at the rate of 0.1 ml of therapeutic substance per 1 kg of rabbit weight.
Contraindications and harm
If the rabbit is pregnant or nursing babies, then it is impossible to use Brovaseptol for its treatment.
Vaccination is one of the main ways to prevent various infectious diseases. We recommend reading about what vaccinations are needed in rabbits and when to vaccinate, and also review instructions for using Rabbiwak V and Associated Vaccines for rabbits.
In addition, contraindications are:
- inadequate response of the animal to the components of the drug;
- painful conditions of the liver and / or kidney of the rabbit.
To this it should be added that novocainic solution is not suitable for creating injection liquid.
According to the pharmacists and practicing veterinarians, side effects when using Brovaseptol were not recorded.
We advise you to consider all the details of breeding rabbits at home.
Storage conditions
Darkness and dryness - the main parameters for the storage of medicines. Temperature range - + 5-25 ° C. Diluted for injection, Brovaseptol is stored in the refrigerator for no more than three days.
The expiration date of the drug is 2 years from the date of manufacture.
An excellent antibacterial agent - Brovaseptol - will largely protect rabbits from many infections, and their owners from disturbances and damages.
