"Krasnostop Zolotovsky" - Old Don technical grape variety, which is characterized by an average ripening period. It belongs to the grape varieties common in the basin of the Black Sea coast. The "Krasnostopa" regionalization was carried out in the Krasnodar Territory.
Breeding history
There are several versions of the appearance of this variety.
- According to the first version, “Krasnostop” is derived from “Cabernet Sauvignon”; his seedlings were brought to the Don land by the Cossacks after the campaigns to France in 1812.
- According to the second version, the variety has Dagestan roots. There is a version that it was brought in the VIII century from the Dagestan territories, where it was distributed in the north of the country.

The shrub has small leaves with soft rounded outlines. They are characterized by a weak funnel shape, medium incision, the presence of 5 or 3 blades, which usually have a wide, blunt middle blade. The leaves have a brilliant bloom, on the reverse side thick webbed pubescence. The veins of the leaf and its stem are red with a tint of wine, color.
The bush itself has an average growth power. Shoots ripen early and well.

The size of the clusters at the "Krasnostop" is small, sometimes it can reach a maximum value - up to 15 cm in length. The clusters have a conical shape, medium density and differ in friability, the largest have small blades at the base. Since the grapes are considered technical, it also has small, round, sometimes weakly oval berries. The color of them is dark blue, and a characteristic feature of the fruit is a thick bluish bloom, which covered all the berries. Fruits have a rather juicy sourish flesh and peel of medium thickness.

The yield of the bushes will drop significantly - up to 2-4 tons per hectare.
If the grapes grow on well-moistened soils, the clusters will become full, large and heavy. This will increase the yield to 8 tons per hectare.
Gestation period
The Krasnostop Zolotovsky is characterized by a middle ripening period. If the areas where the grapes grow, are distinguished by steppe conditions and non-irrigation (most often it is such characteristics of the growing place of this variety that can be found), the buds bloom in late April. Grapes bloom in early June, and the berries ripen in early August. Harvesting occurs at the beginning of September.

This variety is also vulnerable to mold damage, the most common of which is botrytis cynarea. However, this fungus does not harm the quality of the crop. On the contrary, it can have a positive effect on the quality of the berries and the wine produced from them, therefore it is also called the "noble fungus".
