Gloria - medium early variety. From the moment of planting the seeds to the harvest takes about 130 days. The leaves have a gray-green color, with a waxy coating, fleshy, streaked. The upper edge of the leaves is undulating, which makes them fit more tightly when a head is formed.

Widely used in cooking for the preparation of various dishes and preparations for the winter. In fresh form lasts up to 5 months.

History of

Gloria - a hybrid (F1), which was bred by Dutch breeders. The State Register of seed products of the Russian Federation included it in the lists in 2011.

What is the difference from other species?

The difference of this variety is the possibility of planting in two terms. The first harvest is used for fresh consumption and in cooking. The second - for storage in the winter.

Cabbage varieties Gloria is very rich in salts of iron and calcium, as well as vitamins A and C. It has good keeping quality, up to 5 months, maintaining the appearance and taste.

The advantages and disadvantages of the variety

Variety Gloria has several advantages:

  • good taste, which is not lost during storage;
  • trade dress, which is preserved during transportation;
  • consistently high yield in various climatic zones;
  • disease resistance;
  • the ability to withstand temperature extremes, heat, cold;
  • constant mineral dressing is not required;
  • heads of cabbage are not subjected to cracking;
  • universality in use.

Disadvantages of this variety:

  • soil fertility dependence;
  • the need to grow in a sunny, open place;
  • mandatory compliance with agricultural technology;
  • seedlings are prone to pulling.

Step-by-step instructions for care and landing

  1. Where and for how much seed can be purchased. Gloria - a fairly common variety, you can buy it in any specialized department or store. Also, seeds and seedlings are offered at various agricultural fairs and exhibitions.

    A convenient way is to buy from an online store where seeds are delivered home. It is important to pay attention to the verification sites and the name of the manufacturer. The cost is different, depending on the number of seeds, from 32 rubles for 16 pieces.

  2. Landing time. For the cultivation of this variety to choose the best seedling method. Sowing is done in the first half of April. In the open ground, the plant is transferred in the second half of May, when the air and the soil are already sufficiently heated.
  3. Choosing a landing site. Planting should be open and well lit by the sun. It is better to choose it, observing a crop rotation. The predecessors for cabbage can be cucumbers, onions, potatoes, legumes. You should not plant seedlings where last year were radishes, turnips, rutabagus, other types of cabbage and tomatoes.
  4. What should be the soil. This variety of cabbage does not grow well in areas with acidic soil, so the place to plant is more correct to start cooking in the fall. Slaked lime, chalk, and wood ash are introduced into the soil. Before planting in spring, seedlings are fed with organic fertilizers. Peat, sand, humus and wood ash are added to the wells. For seedlings use a ready-mixed soil or independently mix the earth with peat and humus.
  5. Landing. Seeds for seedlings are buried by 1-2 cm, moisten the soil and cover with film or glass. The first shoots appear in about a week. When two leaves appear, the cabbage is dived, the distance between the seedlings is about 6 cm. Sprouts are planted in the open ground, on which 5-7 leaves, about 20 cm high.

    It is important to keep a distance when transplanting a plant of at least 50 cm. The aisle is about 60 cm. Pour about 1 liter of water into each hole, place the seedling there, filling it with soil to the first leaves, and compact the earth slightly. The first few days after planting the seedlings need shading.
  6. Temperature. For seedlings before germination, a temperature of about +10 is recommended. Further, for sprouts, the mode from +14 to +18 in the daytime, from +6 to +10 at night is supported. 2-3 weeks before planting, seedlings are carried out to the air for hardening.

    Planting of seedlings produced at stable daytime temperatures from +12 degrees. This variety tolerates temperature drops from +20 in the afternoon to -6 at night, but the optimum temperature will be from +10 to +20.

  7. Watering. After transplanting, it should be watered twice a day for a week. In the future, watering is reduced to once every 5-6 days. Water must be used settled, pouring it at the root, not falling on the leaves.
  8. Top dressing. The recommended amount of dressings is 3 times per season. Then the cabbage will have equally juicy leaves and grow evenly. In the spring after planting in the ground fertilized with a mixture of urea, superphosphate and wood ash, diluted with water. After two weeks, make organic and nitrogenous substances.

    The last dressing is done at the heading stage, 3-4 weeks before harvesting. It consists of potassium-nitrogen components with the addition of superphosphate. One of the advantages of the Gloria variety is that fertilization improves plant growth, but is not a mandatory procedure.

  9. Other vegetable care measures. After each watering the soil needs loosening. This will prevent its consolidation, and will serve as a preventive measure against fungal diseases.

    Hilling is another mandatory requirement for agrotechnology. The first time it is done in 2-3 weeks after planting seedlings, in the future, at least once every 10 days. In order to maintain the moisture level better, the soil is mulched with a peat layer about 5 cm thick.

  10. Harvesting. Signs of ripeness in cabbage of this variety are considered to stop the growth of the head of cabbage, its compaction, as well as yellowing of the lower leaves. Cleaning can be done not only manually, but also by machine. It is important to do this before the onset of frost, because low temperatures change the chemical composition in the leaves, which affects the shelf life.

Crop storage

The versatility of the variety allows it to be used for all types of blanks, as well as to freeze and keep fresh.

For storage of cabbage, you must comply with the temperature regime. At rates above 3, forks can begin to germinate and bloom.

Most often, cabbages are placed in the basement or cellar, while stacking in boxes or simply on the shelves, leaving space between the forks. Sometimes they are hung up by the stalk or wrapped tightly in cling film.

Diseases and pests

This hybrid is resistant to damage of the main disease of the species - fusarium. At low temperatures in conditions of high humidity may be exposed to gray mold and powdery mildew. To combat use infusion of onion and garlic peel or use of Fitosporin type drugs.

Also Gloria variety may suffer from caterpillars, cockchafer, aphid. To repel insects, sprinkle with the infusion of tomato tops or onion peels. Also for this purpose, sage, mint, marigold, rosemary and other plants with a spicy aroma are planted in the aisle.

Prevention of various problems

In order to get the desired result from this variety, you need to remember some conditions:

  1. hilling should be done regularly;
  2. waterlogging can lead to diseases;
  3. weeds must be removed in a timely manner;
  4. each watering must be accompanied by loosening;
  5. landing pattern must be respected.

Gloria is a hybrid of universal purpose, which appeared in the regions of the Russian Federation relatively recently, but managed to establish itself and become popular. Good keeping quality and taste qualities make it possible to grow it in large volumes for commercial purposes, as well as at summer cottages in various regions.
