Planting and transplanting Azaleas, green beauty in your house

Planting rhododendron at home - completely simple matter. It is enough to have the necessary equipment and know how to use it. In gratitude for the initial correct care, in a year a strong bush will grow from a small process.

Rhododendron - landing and care, step by step instructions

    1. Prepare processes for cuttings. Their age is a maximum of 6 months for the trunk to become stiff. Crop. The length must be at least 6 centimeters.
    2. The lower part of the future indoor plants for half an hour to place in the root and add a few drops of zircon. Thanks to this procedure, the cuttings are easier to adapt and grow.

  1. At the bottom of the pot lay a layer of drainage: broken brick, pieces of charcoal, shards.
  2. Fill the pot with soil mixture suitable for the plant.
  3. The azalea stalk is lowered into the landing hole by 1, -2 centimeters and the soil is carefully tamped down so that there are no air voids.
  4. Liberally watered and covered with polyethylene film or glass jar.
  5. 3 times a week, the seedlings are aired and sprayed.

After a month and a half, azalea bush can be planted in a permanent pot.

Soil for azalea / rhododendron

For rhododendron, an acidic, humus-rich soil is ideal.

You can prepare your own soil mixture at home. For this you will need:

  • coniferous land;
  • peat;
  • sand.

The components are mixed in equal shares.

Heather land is also suitable for planting. The ideal option would be to buy prepared soil for azaleas in a flower shop. In it, the soil mixture is composed with the addition of all the necessary substances and trace elements.

To maintain the necessary acidity, organic acid must be added to the soil every month.

Azalea pot

The azalea root system is rather weak and undeveloped. Suitable for planting pot height of 10-15 centimeters. The diameter should be slightly larger than the crown of rhododendron. For each subsequent transplant pot take a larger diameter than the previous one.

The best option for planting or transplanting azaleas would be clay container, then the soil will be provided with the necessary air circulation.

How to properly transplant azalea at home?

Transplantation of an adult rhododendron practically does not differ from the landing of a cutting. The plant is rolled from one pot to another, larger in diameter by several centimeters.

Before transplanting azalea required clipped. Pinch young shoots, and too-grown branches pruned. A thick bush is thinned. This procedure is obligatory, otherwise the future flowering will be not abundant, and the bush will become loose and sparse.

Cut the plant out of the pot, clean the root system of the earthy coma, soak it in boiled water. Then for 30 minutes, placed in the root and planted in a new pot with coniferous-peat soil mixture. It should be noted that the azalea root neck is not needed to be buried, it should be flush with the ground surface.

After transplantation, azalea is watered abundantly and left alone for a week so that the plant can adapt to new conditions.

Azalea categorically it is not recommended to replant in winter. This is detrimental to any kind of rhododendron. It is best to change the soil and the pot in mid-spring or early summer, when the plant has faded. Before this, the azalea should be at rest in a dark, cool place for about 2 months.

Up to three years, the azalea is transplanted annually, and after - enough once every 2 years.

Rhododendron should be planted and transplanted when new buds start to grow on it. Their development and active growth show that the plant has normally transferred the change of soil mixture and is ready for further cultivation.

How to plant azaleas?

The roots of the plant are strongly intertwined with each other, so the azalea is seated extremely rarely. The best way to get bushes with roots is to cut all the roots along with a sharp knife. Then the shoots are planted in the same way as cuttings, plentifully watered and often sprayed. After 2-3 weeks of proper care, new leaves will appear on the tops of rhododendron.

Azalea / rhododendron care after planting / transplanting

The flower after transshipment or planting is weakened and needs special conditions of detention. It is placed in a warm place that is well lit, but does not fall under direct sunlight.

Immediately after planting or transplanting, the plant is watered with a liquid in which the rhizome is previously immersed. Then you should take a break in 4-6 days and start watering with a weak solution of zircon. It is worth refusing to apply fertilizer and fertilizers - they can burn the roots and the plant will die.

Krona is regularly sprayed with warm water, maintaining a humidity of 80-90%.
Azalea is a very capricious and demanding plant. All the efforts of flower growers are rewarded in full when a long period of flowering begins, and it becomes the “pearl” of the indoor garden.
